Jennifer Doudna’s Scribe Therapeutics Rockets at IPO
Shares of Scribe Therapeutics, a genetic-medicines company co-founded by Nobel laureate Jennifer Doudna, shot up on their first day of trading Friday, continuing a rebound for biotech IPOs this year.
Scribe sold more than 8.5 million shares, up from an earlier plan to sell more than 7.1 million, and priced its initial public offering at $15, the top end of its expected range. Its shares soared 44.3% Friday to close at $21.65.
Scribe’s debut adds to this year’s growing tally of biotech IPOs. In the first half, 14 came to market, topping the eight held in all of 2025, according to investment bank William Blair.
Investor enthusiasm for the sector has been building as companies post strong clinical data while biotech mergers and acquisitions surge. Several companies with drugs in mid- to late-stage clinical trials have capitalized on the rising interest to secure public listings this year.
