Parallel Bio
Parallel Bio is building in vitro replicas of lymph nodes that predict how drugs will perform in people before they reach clinical trials.
Challenge
How do you convince an industry that’s spent decades testing drugs on animals to trust a fundamentally different model?
Approach
Thermal partnered with Parallel Bio to advance the company’s external communications infrastructure and position the founders as defining voices in human-first drug discovery.
-
- Built core messaging architecture: Developed a foundational framework centered on “human-first drug discovery” anchored by the TGN1412 case study — a 2006 clinical trial disaster that animal models failed to predict and Parallel’s platform replicated retrospectively.
- Advanced the website and brand narrative: Partnered with a design agency to update web copy positioning Parallel’s platform for both investors while maintaining an accessible, compelling public narrative.
- Initiated a media campaign: Arranged meetings during the JPM conference with key trade reporters. Positioned Parallel’s founders as expert sources when the FDA issued draft guidance on new approach methodologies in March 2026, one of the most significant regulatory moments for the NAM space.
- Developed a thought leadership program: Worked to position cofounders and co–CEOs Rob DiFazio and Juliana Hilliard as high-impact voices calling for an end to animal testing for not just ethical but scientific and economic reasons.
Impact
Thermal built a full-stack communications program, establishing Parallel Bio’s positioning and amplifying its milestones across media, executive content, and announcement strategy.
-
- Repositioned Parallel Bio beyond the organoid category: Thermal developed a messaging framework that reframed Parallel Bio not just as an organoid company, but as a human-first drug discovery platform, shifting the narrative from the technology itself to what it makes possible.
- Landed flagship industry features: Secured a major feature following Parallel’s JPM briefing with R&D World, covering the TGN1412 proof point, the in-house drug development pivot, and the founders’ vision for the field.
- Debuted on GEN’s inaugural Top 10 Organoid Companies list: Parallel Bio ranked #7 among private companies by total capital raised in GEN’s first-ever organoid company rankings, published alongside a major GEN organoid roundup feature the same day, in which both co-founders were prominently quoted.
- Named a 2026 World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer: Parallel Bio was selected as one of 100 companies for the Technology Pioneers cohort, recognized globally for their potential to address major challenges. Thermal leveraged this connection to develop an article co-authored by Parallel Bio’s founders and published with WEF, calling for the end of primate testing as the default path to clinical trials by 2030.
